Other details – He was a “Lobhi” “Jipuna”. He had a lot of wealth and was popularly called as “Navakoti Narayana”, but he hardly gave anything to anybody.
Vairagya – When he was 40 years, “Lobha” gave place to “Vairagya”, his “love of Gold” turned as “love of God” and became “Haridasa”. He left Purandara Gada alongwith his entire family and visited „Pandarapura‟ and came to Vijayanagar and sought the Shishyatva of Shri Vyasarajaru, who gave him “Ankitha” as “Purandara Vittala” and asked him to compose Kruthis on Devaranama in Kannada.
He became a Haridaasa and left every thing and started “Madhukara Vrutti”. His dress consisted of a turban, tulasimale, tamburi, chitike, gejje, and gopalabutti consisting of voluntarily contributed food and other articles. He was contemporary of great personalities like Vadirajaru, Kanakadasaru
Purandara Mantapa – Sri Krishnadevaraya, the King of Vijayanagar, invited him to his palace and built a Japashala for Purandaradasaru, near Chakrathirtha, now popularly called as “Purandara Mantapa
He is said to be the amsha of Naaradaru
He attained the feet of Purandara Vittala on Pushya Bahula Amavasye, in Raktakshi naama samvatsara in 1564 AD.
